Countersink holes must be drilled with precision to the exact depth required, and the walls to the exact angle. The dimensions are especially critical for countersinks on the exterior panels of aircraft because they determine how well the fastener will fit and if the fastener head will be positioned correctly. A fastener that protrudes above or below the surface beyond certain tolerances may adversely affect performance of the aircraft.
The diameter and depth of the countersink and the angle of the countersink relative to the surface are critical measurements.
Designed for the requirements in the Aerospace Industry, TESTAR has developed its line of hand gauges to measure Rivet & Fastener Bore Characteristics.
Size, depth and angle can be measured.
The line is composed of a Countersink Diameter Gauge, and a Countersink Depth Gauge. These two gauges will measure the countersink major diameter, the depth of the countersink and, when using Marposs Electronics, display the angle of the countersink.
Practical and useful measurement kits are now available. Please find more information here.
Further standard and special gauges are available on request. Please find more information here.
