End-Of-Line Testing Of Electric Motors

The end-of-line functional test represents the key operation for the quality control of the fully assembled electric motors.

The methods of carrying out the functional check may differ depending on the intended use for the testing station, for analysis activities in the Laboratory during the product development and process set-up phase, or for the 100% quality control at the end of the assembly line.

With the e.d.c. products, Marposs offers a complete range of solutions dedicated to the functional testing and the end-of-line testing of any type of electric motor, DC motors or AC motors, synchronous or asynchronous, for in-line and off-line applications or for laboratory analysis and characterization.

End-Of-Line Testing Of Electric Motors
DESCRIPTION

The insulation test, whether it's carried out only with the traditional techniques of Insulation Resistance, Dielectric Strength (Hi-Pot), Surge, or even through the execution of Partial Discharge Insulation Test (PDIV Test), is normally repeated in the final testing phase of the motor, in order to verify that the assembly operations have not compromised the perfect state of insulation.

However, the complete quality control of the motor also includes other types of tests in order to evaluate different functional parameters, such as Vibration (NVH test), Dynamic BEMF, Friction & Iron Losses, Zero Resolver Position, Feedback Phasing and more.

end-of-line-testing

The evaluation of these parameters in the production environment for 100% quality control at the end of the line, typically involves the adoption of fast test cycles without load (No-load test).

For more in-depth analyzes, typically used in the laboratory environment but also applicable in the production line, stations equipped with motor brake (Load test) are proposed, with the possibility of evaluating BEMF with FFT analysis, Speed, Torque and Efficiency diagrams, Three -Phase Short-Circuit, Cogging / Torque Ripple (only with brushless motor).
