Marposs will introduce its improved Mida line of tool setting arms for lathes at IMTS 2008 in booth D-4514, September 8-13, in Chicago's McCormick Place. Mida lathe tool setting arms, including removable, pull-down and motorized arm versions, reduce setup time and scrap versus "cut and measure" methods in order to improve the quality and the competitiveness of a manufacturing process.
The Marposs Mida line of tool setting arms offers a solution for eliminating human errors during manual entry of coordinates in machine registers, to correct machine thermal drift with calibration cycles, and to rectify tool length and diameter offset with high accuracy.
All the following versions are available for chuck sizes from 6 to 24 in. and block tooling from 5/8 to 2 in.:
- The removable MIDASET ARM, which the operator manually inserts into the machine and removes once tool setting is complete, has been deeply improved. Easier installation is possible by the replacement of the cable clamp with a connector.
- The MIDA TOOL EYE LINE comprises two versions to best match tool setting application requirements. The MIDA TOOL EYE PULL DOWN ARM is a manual arm that resides permanently in the machine's working envelop. When not in use, the arm is locked in a reposed position, taking up minimal space and the probe is stored in a suitable pocket.
- The MIDA TOOL EYE MOTORIZED ARM provides a fully automated tool setting and in-cycle broken tool detection.
