MARPOSS CELEBRATES THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF ITS DIRECT PRESENCE IN CHINA

Marposs celebrates the twentieth anniversary of its direct presence in China. In fact, twenty years passed from November 4 1986 when, after the first exploratory contacts going back to 1970's, the Company founded its first trading company in the great Eastern country, in Hong Kong, bridgehead towards China and the markets of Taiwan and of the Southeast Asian countries. The development of Marposs presence in China, starting from the end of 1980's, proceeded at the same rate with the economic increase of that great country, in particular of the automotive market.

Today Marposs is directly present in China with five companies: Marposs Shanghai Trading Limited and MG Asia Hong Kong, commercial and after sales support companies; MEGS located in Shanghai, which designs and produces measuring systems for the tooling machines, automotive and ball bearings Chinese industry; MG Wuxi (city located approximately 120 km from Shanghai) specialized in the production of mechanical equipment (dial gauges and master gauges) for the quality control in the automotive production (plant of 1800 sq.m. for an investment of approximately $800,000 in years 2005-2006); a new company which is being created within the end of this year in Nanjing, in joint venture with the local Bozhong Co., for the manufacturing of gauging machines for home automotive industry. Marposs employs a total of 176 persons in China.

Marposs has celebrated the important anniversary of its arrival in China on October 27 with a ceremony held in Shanghai and attended by over 200 guests, including a significant representation of the top management of the major customers (including the Chinese subsidiaries of GM, Ford, Zanussi, Saint Gobain, Pilkington, and big local groups such as First Car Works and SAIC), of associated companies and local and Italian institutions.
